Female Personal Trainer North Shore

Empowering Women through strength training

You've Got This Girl 💪

Welcome to Strength Block, your premier destination for personal training on Auckland's North Shore. Our co-founder and lead trainer, Sophie Rabaud, a seasoned female personal trainer and a 5 foot 3 powerhouse is dedicated to guiding you towards your fitness goals.

Sophie's innate ability to foster a community-oriented training environment, while ensuring personal attention and guidance, sets Strength Block apart. We're not just a gym; we're YOUR gym.

Do women need different training methods than men?

When it comes to training, there aren't fundamental differences between men and women. The overall picture looks the same, but some of the finer details may differ. While there are factors like muscle mass and hormonal differences, one less tangible one is the female experience with fitness. At Strength Block, Sophie, being a woman herself, understands the unique challenges and concerns that women may have in a gym setting. Her empathetic approach allows her to design training sessions that are not only effective but also empowering and enjoyable for women.

Female Strength Training, Because Barbells are For Everyone

At Strength Block, we truly believe that strength training, especially with free weights, is an incredible way for women to build confidence and feel empowered. It's not just about physical strength; it's about unlocking your inner power, owning your space, and breaking stereotypes. When you lift weights and surpass your own expectations, you'll not only defy gravity but also defy any self-imposed limits. With each lift and every extra kilogram added to the barbell, you'll experience a sense of accomplishment and belief in yourself like never before. This transformative journey of strength not only helps women realise their true potential but also empowers them in all aspects of life, extending far beyond the gym.

Why Choose Strength Block?

  • Inclusion: Our community welcomes everyone, regardless of their fitness level. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting your fitness journey, you'll feel right at home at Strength Block.

  • Private Space: Enjoy a private and secure training space where you can focus on your workout and push yourself to the limit without distractions.

Meet Sophie Rabaud

I believe in empowering people to see their full potential, creating strong bodies, as well as healthy mindsets to lead a life of happiness and balance.

I have always been passionate about fitness, particularly strength and resistance training, ever since I met my partner in 2016. Under his guidance, I immersed myself in this world, even participating in a novice powerlifting competition where I discovered my love for lifting heavy.

To further enhance my own training and help others on their fitness journeys, I obtained my NASM Certificate in personal training in 2019. Additionally, I expanded my expertise by completing a certificate in Pre and Postnatal coaching in 2021.

In 2022, my husband and I proudly opened our own semi-private gym Strength Block. Our focus is on promoting a balanced approach to life, prioritizing sustainable habits that contribute to long-term health and happiness.

My goal is to empower everyone, especially women, to embrace strength training and experience the confidence that comes with it. Together, let's embark on a fitness journey that is tailored to your needs and supports your overall well-being.

6 Benefits of

Strength Training

For Women

  • Strength training helps women to improve their overall strength and endurance. By engaging in regular strength training exercises, women can build muscle mass, which helps to increase their strength and endurance. Additionally, strength training can help to improve posture, balance, and flexibility, all of which are important for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

  • Strength training can also reduce the risk of injury for women by strengthening the muscles and tendons that support the joints. Stronger muscles provide better support for the joints, which reduces the risk of sprains or strains from everyday activities such as walking or running. Additionally, strength training can help to improve coordination and stability, both of which are important for reducing the risk of falls or other accidents.

  • Strength training can also help to increase a woman's metabolism, which can help with weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight. When you strength train, your body needs more energy in order to repair the muscle fibers that have been broken down during exercise. This increased energy demand causes your body to burn more calories, even when you're not exercising.

  • Regular strength training has been shown to have positive effects on mental health in women by reducing stress levels and improving moods. Strength training releases endorphins into the bloodstream, which are hormones that act as natural painkillers and produce feelings of euphoria known as a “runner’s high”. Additionally, strength training can help to improve sleep quality by making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep throughout the night.

  • Finally, regular strength training can help women to increase their confidence levels by improving body image and self-esteem. As they become stronger through regular exercise, many women find that they feel more confident in themselves both physically and mentally. This increased confidence can lead to improved relationships with others as well as improved performance in work or school settings

  • Strength training is an excellent way for women to improve their bone health. As women age, their bones naturally become more fragile and are at an increased risk of developing osteoporosis. Strength training helps to strengthen the bones and can even help to reverse some of the effects of osteoporosis. Additionally, strength training can help to reduce joint pain and stiffness by strengthening the muscles that support the joints.
