getting into powerlifting
Is powerlifting good for beginners?
Yes - powerlifting is one of the best ways for beginners to build strength safely, because the movements are simple, trackable, and progress is easy to measure.
Powerlifting focuses on three core lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift.
With proper technique, beginners see strength gains quickly, which is motivating and measurable.
At Strength Block, our capped memberships and coaching support ensure beginners learn safely without feeling lost in a big commercial gym.
Do I need to be strong before I start powerlifting?
No - you don’t need to be strong to start. Powerlifting is how you become strong.
Every lifter starts with the bar and gradually adds weight.
Our coaches help you progress at your own pace with tailored programs.
The Strength Block Training App adjusts loads automatically based on your lifts, so you’re always working at the right level.
How often should beginners powerlift each week?
Most beginners see the best results training 3 days per week with proper recovery.
Training three days allows enough frequency to build technique while still recovering.
Our beginner programs in the Strength Block App are structured around this proven model.
Members can follow guided programs, track progress, and ask coaches for support anytim
What’s the difference between powerlifting and bodybuilding for beginners?
Powerlifting builds strength by focusing on heavy squats, bench presses, and deadlifts, while bodybuilding focuses on muscle size and aesthetics.
Beginners who want measurable progress often find powerlifting more rewarding.
At Strength Block, we give you both options — strength-focused programs and general fitness/nutrition support.
Don’t get it wrong - powerlifting builds muscle. You will build a physique but the primaty goal is to get stronger int he squat, bench and deadlift.
What equipment do I need to start powerlifting?
All you need is a barbell, weights, squat rack, bench and a safe training space - everything provided at Strength Block.
Beginners don’t need special gear to start, but optional equipment (like a lifting belt, wrist wraps, or squat shoes) can be added later.
Strength Block is equipped with barbells, racks, platforms, and specialty bars designed for both beginners and advanced lifters.
Our coaches can advise when and if supportive gear becomes helpful.
How does Strength Block help beginners get started with powerlifting?
Strength Block removes the intimidation factor by providing coaching, structured beginner programs, and a supportive community.
Beginners get access to proven starter programs in the Strength Block App (auto-calculated loads, progress tracking, video demos).
Our no-contract memberships mean you can try powerlifting without long-term pressure.
